Wilton EfW (Energy from Waste), located in Teesside, UK, and which owns the authority tasked with organising waste management in Merseyside, is one of the facilities that has come onstream as part of the United Kingdom s energy transition programme.

Operated by SUEZ since 2016, this energy self-sufficient plant supplies electricity to 600,000 households using the energy produced from collected household waste, and about 50% of the steam produced is used by the companies in the industrial estate.

With the 55 facilities that it manages in Europe in 2017, SUEZ supplies energy equivalent to the annual consumption of a city with 2 million inhabitants.
