Waterchange: anticipating the consequences of climate change for water resources

The Waterchange research project, coordinated by CETAQUA, SUEZ Water Europe s research laboratory in Spain, aims to assess the quantitative and qualitative impacts of water resources combined with soil uses and the water demand evolution.

Its ultimate objective is to propose global adaptive measures that will secure resources in the long term, in the face of future changes. The project benefits from financial support from the European Union, as part of the LIFE+ programme.

As part of this project, a control tool has been developed that is currently being tested in the Llobregat basin.

This coastal river in Catalonia contributes to the water supply of the city of Barcelona, and is very vulnerable to episodes of drought and urban, agricultural and industrial pollution.
