long-range remote metering is conserving resources in Malta

Malta faces a severe shortage of natural resources, which is being made worse by climate change and the arrival of one million tourists every summer.

In the 1980s, the Maltese authorities launched an ambitious policy to manage water and energy resources, in particular with a programme of remote water and electricity meter readings.

In 2008, the Water Services Corporation (WSC), which produces and distributes drinking water on the island, opted for SUEZ s 169 MHz long-range remote metering solution. This solution, which already equips 1.2 million meters in Europe, boasts excellent levels of performance.

The data is reliable and guarantee that the bills are accurately based on actual consumption, rather than estimates.
