Lodewijk Koster is a cartoonist and maker of

illustrations cartoons an animations in his own

typical cartoonstyle He is an expert in visual

storytelling His visualizations are characterized by

the focus on the content clear language and a dose

of humor

He has an university degree in biologie with a focus

on plant an animal ecology and has a 17year

career as a high school biology teacher Drawing has

always been a hobby of his and in 2014 he decided

to start working on creating visualizations Because

of his background topics such as climate change

sustainability the environment and biodiversity

regularly feature in his work

Since then he has made cartoons and animations

for several nature organizations and sustainable

companies He has recently become involved in the

Scientist Rebellion movement which like him is

looking for a different way of science communication

it is his strong belief that understandable and

humorous visualizations has more impact in

conveying scientif ic knowledge to the public such as

information about climate change These cartoons

are examples of his work and can be considered as
