In a large variety of multi-purpose venues that require variable acoustic control, most solutions are accomplished with

exible absorption methods. Sound waves can be effectively absorbed by almost any open cell structure such as fabrics,

foams, or carpet; whereas fabrics being the most versatile form of exible absorption. Factors that contribute to good

sound absorption in fabrics are ow resistance and weight of the material. The Noise Reduction Coefcient (NRC) gives a

general impression of the absorption properties of the material. For example, a NRC of 1 absorbs 100% of sound energy.

Other important factors that determine the NRC are percentage of fabric fullness and the distance away from the wall in

which the fabric has been tested.
