Monitoring Hot Works

Required:

Robust procedures for ensuring the Hot Works permit is adhered to, even if the contractor is managing the permit directly.

To ensure a high level of fire safety, observe basic safety procedures:

Ensure that a fire watch is in operation at all times

All combustible materials are cleared from surrounding areas before work begins

At least two adequate and appropriate fire extinguishers are kept in the immediate area and used immediately smoke, smouldering or flames are detected

Specific care must be taken with all Hot Works equipment to minimise any risk of fire

Conduct a fire safety check immediately afterwards and then approximately 30 and 60 minutes after the completion of each period of work. Act immediately to extinguish any smouldering or flames discovered
