The Specialist Academy & our key players The Specialist Academy is a flagship programme for the development of world class expertise in a specialist area. The first Cohort ran 2012 with just 20 participants. At our largest we had 38, this year we total 36. Its purpose and aims remains consistent, clear and simple: To accelerate the development of Specialist High Potentials to achieve Associate Fellow and Fellow status at a faster pace. This still holds true and we are justifiably proud of the achievements and successes of the SA Cohorts and Alumni.

The programme is about future proofing; we are growing, there is increased competition, technologies are rapidly changing and the world s becoming even more complex our aim is to equip Specialists with the skills, connections, knowledge and behaviours to operate successfully in today s environment. Specifically, the programme helps shape a community of Specialists with the edge , who go beyond the technical and understand commercial viability and lead change. People who communicate ideas and ultimately bring product/innovation to market.

Sub groups are allocated a technically challenging project at the start of each programme. The projects are novel, interesting and demanding, they are the focus for the Academy and potentially of real value to Rolls-Royce.

Over 180 people have attended, 30+ have now become part of the Rolls-Royce Fellowship. The programme continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our business and exemplifies our commitment to being a learning organisation.
