What does the science say? In a global study of over 19,000 employees from 34 companies in various industry groups, the Corporate Leadership Council found that fair and accurate feedback and reviews with an emphasis on strengths significantly increased performance (+38% on average).
What happens when we focus on weakness? In contrast, when the feedback was given in formal reviews with an emphasis on weakness, there was a significant drop in performance of -27%.
Makes sense A good reason to make time for Check-Ins and a reminder to reinforce how the person can use their strengths when discussing what could be better.
