AGILE STRATEGIES FOR LEADING IN VUCA TIMES The acronym VUCA was first introduced in 1991 by the U.S. Army as a result of the extreme conditions in Afghanistan and Iraq, that totally changed the nature of warfare.

The business environment has transformed in a similar way. Change comes quickly and constantly, making the future difficult to predict. To try to make sense of it we have to account for a huge variety of factors, often based on information which may be incomplete, inaccurate or contradictory. Taking an agile approach to leadership can help our teams and ourselves to thrive and survive in this VUCA world.

Bob Johanson suggested in his 2007 book,  Get There Early: Sensing the Future to Compete in the Present  that a solution lay in  VUCA Prime . He reversed the VUCA elements to form a new acronym, click on each icon to see them.
