Maintaining personal and professional boundaries In order to take care of ourselves it s essential to set and protect our own boundaries defining when it s appropriate to draw the line and maintain a professional distance.

What are personal boundaries? The physical, emotional and mental limits we use to protect ourselves from being drawn too much into students lives and from being manipulated or violated by others.

What are professional boundaries? The legal, ethical and organisational policies that protect both staff and students from physical and emotional harm, and help to maintain a safe working environment.
