I was anxious and alone in class at the start, But your calm aura quietens the storm Inside my heart.
Slowly, I Rise
I ask my stupid questions, And you answer. You re kind. I unjumble the thoughts tangled in my messy mind. I email lengthy messages Probably taking too much of your time. But you understand I need time to be understood. Communications, Discussions, About the same things, More times than I should.
Still you follow up, You remember, Checking that I m good.
I can Rise.
When I was about to quit. When I was drowning, trying to survive. As life became what it is. You made me believe I could thrive.
As the doubt begins to fade and somehow I begin to believe You make me feel capable like I have the skill to achieve.
I know I can Rise.
I had that teacher A mentor, A supporter, An ally An advocate
A person, In my corner Who without, I would not be here today Today, years later to say
And Still I Rise
