Although the company that operates it is variously known as the St. Maarten Harbor Holding Company, Port St. Maarten Group of Companies (PSGC), or simply The Harbor, the official name of the port is The Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facility. Established on June 3rd, 1964, it is named after the legendary political leader of St. Maarten who ruled the southern half of the island for some 40 years.
Port St. Maarten Group of Companies is 100% owned by the island government of St. Maarten. Resting on four pillars Cruise, Cargo, Yachting and Real Estate it has some 13 fully owned subsidiaries that operate in the marine and maritime sectors.
