Maison Ruinart is committed to promoting biodiversity in Taissy. This pilot project applies agroforestry practices to the vineyard, bringing together trees, vines and animals.
Hedges have been planted around the edge of vineyard and in between the plots to form islets. " We want to regenerate the soil and bring back the fauna and flora by re-establishing ecological corridors ", explains FRÉDÉRIC PANAÏOTIS, Ruinart Cellar Master.
Since 2021, more than 12,000 trees and shrubs have been planted, prominently local species such as hornbeam, hawthorn, dogwood, beech, willow, rowan, spindle, viburnum and oak. Carried out with the expertise of Reforest'action, this ambitious project aims to diversify and revitalise the ecosystem to help restore natural harmony, as it may have existed three generations ago.
