Communication Styles in action

Once we have understood how communication styles work and the characteristics and impact of each one, we can use this awareness to do two things:

For example, how would you approach a project update meeting with someone of each style?

Read the different approaches and see if you can

spot which style each would resonate the best with:

Keep the atmosphere relaxed, start by asking how they are, be a good listener, take a collaborative approach, don t push too hard, don t surprise them.

Focus on the task at hand, have a clear agenda and stick to it, be prepared with facts and data, don t rush to conclusions, provide clear analysis.

Be positive and enthusiastic, be flexible with the agenda, look at the big picture perspective, don t overburden with information, share your experiences, brainstorm ideas.

Get straight down to business, provide concise and precise information, don t waste time or argue details, provide options and let them make the final decision.
