Urinary S/O Canine effectively dissolves struvite uroliths. In addition, an acidic urinary pH is unfavourable to the development of bacteria, which are frequently associated with struvite uroliths.

Low RSS diets encourage an undersaturated urinary environment, unfavourable to the development of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Diluting urine decreases the urinary concentration of struvites and calcium oxalate crystals. Greater urinary volumes also ensures regular bladder wash-out.

Magnesium is a component of struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) uroliths.

A moderately increased sodium content induces urine dilution. In conjunction with acidification of the urine, efficient dissolution and prevention of struvite uroliths occurs while creating an environment that is unfavourable to formation of oxalate uroliths.

Urinary S/O Canine is the first-line diet of choice prior to crystal identification.
