Distribution of our sustainable projects in 2022

Measuring and reducing our Scope 3 emissions, in particular

those generated by materials and by our suppliers of goods, ser-

vices and materials, are two essential prerequisites for delivering

sustainable projects.

Consequently, we’re evaluating and measuring our emissions so

that we can have a comprehensive picture and set specific object-

ives to reduce the most significant emission sources across our

value chain.

By 2024, all the emissions generated by our strategic suppliers will

be monitored annually with the goal of measuring their emissions,

orienting our decisions and incentivizing these suppliers of goods

and services to take the necessary steps to reduce their carbon

footprint.

As one of the first construction companies to be a member of the

Canada Green Building Council, we have considerable expertise

in delivering sustainable projects and seeking certifications, such

as LEED, Zero Carbon and Passive House. These projects have a

positive impact on our Scope 3 carbon footprint. Examples include

choosing materials with a low-carbon footprint right from the

design phase of the project, combined with energy efficiency and

sound management of end-of-life residual materials.

Given the growing demand for this in the industry, we now have

more than 190 projects that are certified or seeking certification in

sustainable construction under our belt. In 2022 alone, 36% of our

active projects

1

and 65% of our active building projects

2

—that’s

a 14% increase compared with 2021—are certified sustainable or

in the process of being certified.

In response to this trend, our teams of experts in energy efficiency

and sustainable construction grew from 30 members in 2021 to 37

members in 2022. We also count on the expertise of more than 45

employees with active professional certification, including several

LEED and Envision experts, to lead these flagship projects.

In 2022, we won 13 mandates—more than double the number from

the preceding year—in which the design and work are planned

around reducing the carbon footprint. This illustrates the import-

ance decarbonizing is taking in our industry and for our clients.

We want to increase the construction of buildings that are certified

sustainable or highly energy efficient to accelerate the transition to

a low-carbon economy. To achieve this, we’re investing time and

effort in disseminating this expertise at every level by focussing,

above all, on training our teams.

In 2022, 75 employees received training in energy efficiency,

renewable energy and sustainable construction. That’s 436 hours

that were offered to our teams on the issues and opportunities that

the ecological transition presents for our industry.
