CYCLEVIA has established a common waste prevention and eco-
design plan to give oil and lubricant producers the resources to reduce
the environmental impact of their products and, ultimately, to better
design them. Approved by the Stakeholder Committee (SC), the plan was
communicated at the end of April to the producer responsibility organisa-
tion’s members, who then had six months to integrate their actions into it
or propose an individual plan. CYCLEVIA then compiled contributions within
a summary of waste prevention and eco-design plans which was presented
to the SC before being published on its website in mid-December. Despite
moderate but representative participation—the 70 participants hold 71%
of the market share—the campaign highlighted the maturity and priori-
ties of the industry in terms of eco-design, opening the way for ambitious
future initiatives.
In September 2023, CYCLEVIA launched a study on the
biodegradation and bioaccumulation of lubricants,
which was completed in 2024. Throughout the year, this
study provided information for working groups focusing
on changes to eco-modulation. Composed of marketer ex-
perts, this group established a proposal presented to the SC in December
2024, which received unanimous approval before being sent to the French
Ministry of Ecological Transition at the beginning of 2025.
CYCLEVIA conducts its studies in two formats The f irst
involves working groups of up to ten people who study the
topics identify problems and put forward solutions according
to their experience and trade practices The other format
more complex may require the involvement of an external
consultancy f irm but its work is still steered by the working group over
seeing it This coconstruction in which marketers participate legitimises
the implementation of specif ied actions and reinforces their ef fectiveness

In 2024 CYCLEVIA completed several structural
studies in collaboration with marketers
From waste prevention plan to the def inition
of new ecomodulation criteria and the analysis
of lubricants biodegradability these studies feed
into a clear strategy to assist and transform
the industry towards greater circularity
The result is concrete levers for more virtuous oils
that are better designed collected and treated

The meetings,
approximately five
to six over 18 months,
were led by CYCLEVIA
in an open and
collaborative manner.
The process enabled
genuine collaboration
between industrial
and institutional players,
resulting in a both
pragmatic and coherent
measure that benefits
