Successfully putting our experience to the test
Pierre Pomerleau
T he year 2020 was exceptional in many ways and a great source of pride as we achieved success in the face of adversity.
We will forever remember March 2020, when we were blindsided by the announcement of the pandemic and stay-at-home orders.
Fortunately, we drew on what we have been building since our beginnings in 1964, and on our corporate values authenticity, excellence, adaptability, innovation, love to react with confidence.
It is in our nature to stand together among ourselves and in our communities and to do so with conviction.
Within 48 hours, we had drawn up our game plan and reached out to our employees, clients and partners.
Rapidly, we had reviewed our clients prior- ities and reorganized our pending orders, considering the slowdown in private projects and the increase in public projects.
In less than five days, we had introduced pro- tocols and shared them with the construction
industry across Canada. We took the lead and initiated the Committed Contractor program. As a national builder, it was essen- tial for us that all players large and small alike, regardless of their means adopt the same health measures on all job sites.
The industry demonstrated boldness and worked in unison. The results were compelling: the authorities saw that we had the situation well in hand and our construction sites were able to restart quickly.
Reaching new heights despite the blow
Our revenue has grown from $1.5 billion in 2017 to $2.5 billion in 2020. More than 350 new employees and 200 interns joined our teams from coast to coast. We have main- tained our strong position: our order book is full, we have promising business opportu- nities and our financial situation is sound.
We have continued to build on the immeasur- able talents of our teams and partners, giving them room to explore, test and grow their ideas.
