Across Canada, food banks and healthcare research organizations have had to step up their efforts because of the pandemic, and we wanted to give them additional support. We provided them with $625,000 in addition to our usual financial support.
Since we could not raise funds this year by cycling from Ottawa to Halifax or running from Montreal to New York, we replaced the traditional group sports challenge with indi- vidual sports activities and added $2.50 per employee-kilometre to our Love Is an Essen- tial Service program.
In the same vein, we also took part in the Lunch Box Challenge. This challenge was launched by a competitor and we in turn challenged other general contractors across Canada. It was an opportunity to recognize the work done by our on-site employees by treating them to a meal prepared by local restaurants hard hit by the pandemic.
