O ur Environment and Sustainable Develop- ment team continues to expand so it can ensure the environmental compliance of our sites and lead the implementation of the com- pany s first sustainable development strategy. It now has 10 environmental specialists who examine our operations and suggest ways to mitigate the impact of our activities. We are aiming for ISO 14001:2015 certification, which will attest to the performance of our environmental management system and its continuous improvement.
In addition to protecting the environment, we rely on our social involvement and sound governance to ensure that our business develops sustainably and responsibly.
That s why, in 2020, we updated our environ- mental policy as it specifically applies to our projects, expanding it to include the sustain- able development for all our activities. We make commitments in this policy to make improvements to our procurement practices, waste management, support for local com- munities, sustainable construction and efforts to fight climate change.
Our efforts are largely focused on our employ- ees sense of fulfillment. Onboarding and employee development are key to ensuring
everyone contributes fully to our business, regardless of where they are in Canada or what position they hold.
Their health and safety and that of our sub- contractors is another non-negotiable, which is why we have deployed a very strict pro- gram with a proven track record. We re also increasing our efforts, on our job sites and in our offices, to promote mental health and create a more inclusive and diverse work environment.
More broadly, we seek to have a positive impact in our host communities. Beyond the projects we build, we support communities by working with them and contributing to charitable organizations that are active in health, education and the environment.
We make donations every year, as well as vol- unteering our time and expertise. In Quebec, for example, we provided project management resources to the Véro & Louis Foundation to build the first house for adults on the autism spectrum. This solidarity is what drives us.
This sustainable development approach calls on all our teams to contribute in order to inte- grate best practices into our operations. We will detail our performance and progress in a first sustainability report next year.
