Mathieu, a project manager in Ottawa, had an idea, which he brought to our FOX operational excellence group: why not track a project s schedule and costs in real time by taking greater advantage of the data generated on our job sites?
T his idea and many others come from a host of people who are motivated to change things, and driven by our innovation and improvement process. Combined with our technology watch, these ideas make their way into our innovation management system, which includes several units dedicated to bringing innovative ideas to the field, including the following:
aXLab is made up of R&D enthusiasts who look at best practices in innovation on the planet. They work hard to help us quickly adopt new technologies that meet our business needs. They also work with exter- nal partners, including La Factry Canada s first training centre for developing creative skills and several research chairs and universities.
FOX focuses on change management. It is accelerating the improvement and harmonization of processes and tools technological and non-technological from optimizing project schedules to integrating the new community engage- ment policy and carbon accounting of buildings. It ensures new ways of doing things are rolled out quickly and efficiently at all our sites in Canada.
PX3 is our training ecosystem, where we learn to master new processes and tools.
Innovation is the cornerstone in advancing the construction industry and meeting the challenges it faces: increasingly complex projects, tighter schedules and budgets, skilled labour shortages and a growing num- ber of measures to better protect our teams and the environment.
For several years now, we ve been making all the necessary investments and efforts because we want to be a leader in innovation. We ve built teams and created a physical space for the creativity and ideas that drive us forward.
