Project
In the heart of a research and technology campus, construct the Cyber Centre: a four-storey building to house cyber security research, commercialization, moni- toring and operations of critical infrastructure assets that are essential to our society and economy, such as energy, utilities, emergency measures organization, telecommunications, defence systems, banking and transportation.
Challenges
Deliver a robust building that is secure, can withstand disasters, such as earthquakes and power failures, to make sure essential infrastructure remains up and run- ning and all data is protected. Ensure 99% reliability and triple redundancy.
Meet federal security requirements to control vehicle access.
Solutions
Optimize design with our own design managers.
Ask that all professionals and trade partners use and fully integrate BIM on the construction site.
Use stronger steel, more concrete and wire mesh on all interior walls for rigidity and to prevent such things as espionage and radio frequency penetration. Reinforce duct work, the stairwell as well as fire and lightning protection equipment.
Install multiple access controls and massive generators.
Utilize laser scanning after installing the slab conduit to prevent any conflicts with core drilling.
Have each contractor and trade partner monitored for entry onto the site by a security company.
Adopt strict environmental measures including erosion and sedimentation control, monitoring of volatile orga- nic compound (VOC) emissions, responsible concrete runoff management and coordination of activities that could affect native wildlife.
A highly cyber-secure building to protect the country s critical infrastructure
