Project
Expand the Trillium line of the O-Train system to serve the growing population.
Assignment
Build 13 new stations along the new line, including three on elevated guideways. Repair the five ground-level sta- tions. Build a train maintenance, cleaning and inspection centre.
Challenges
Multi-site project over 16 kilometres of new railway track where hundreds of people work simultaneously each day. This entails greater health and safety considerations, and complex coordination of several teams performing various tasks.
Build and design practically simultaneously, requiring a high degree of adaptability.
Plan an alternate transit service during the work and maintain rail car access at certain facilities.
Solutions
Combine our expertise in building and civil engineering structures.
Intensely use BIM for all stations and especially for the maintenance centre, which is a complex building requi- ring a great deal of coordination between the various disciplines structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and others. Use a full-time team of three BIM coordina- tors dedicated to the project.
Assemble concrete slabs and stairs off-site to deliver a better-quality project, offset the labour shortage, stay on schedule and reduce costs.
Rigorously analyze risks to workers health and safety. Use of our mobile platform by a team of seven agents dedicated exclusively to the prevention and manage- ment of accidents and near-accidents on the site.
