Proud to be responsible, fair and open
Renée, Marie-Pier and Benoît make up the new team dedicated to ethics and compliance. In the context of our growth, we want to further systemize our practices and continue to apply the most stringent standards in compliance with the laws and regulations that govern our industry.
T he team is in charge of implementing an ethics and compliance program that will bolster our rules against wrongdoings, the protection of personal information, respect for human rights, relationships with regulatory authorities and lobbying. The team s mission is also to implement a management system to prevent, detect and handle issues related to corruption.
Once the system is up and running, we could be among Canada s first construction companies to earn ISO 37001 anti-bribery certification.
Governance on a solid footing
The interests of our stakeholders are at the heart of our decisions, as are our values authenticity, excellence, adaptability, innova- tion and love and our governance framework.
The Executive Committee guides our strategic vision. It brings together a diverse group of experienced industry professionals.
The Board of Directors was established in 1995 and consists primarily of independent direc- tors from a variety of backgrounds. It provides strategic guidance for decision-making and risk management, and selects our Ethics Com- missioner. It also appoints the members of the Talent, Culture and Leadership Standing Com-
mittee, which advises us on human resources management and succession planning, and regularly reviews our occupational health and safety performance.
A Code of Ethics guides the way we do business, not only as a company, but it applies as well to directors, officers, employees and others who represent the company. The Suppliers Code of Conduct ensures our business partners share the same high ethical standards.
We have a hotline and an email address where any alleged violations to the codes of ethics can be reported anonymously and confidentially.
Raising the management framework a notch above
We have strengthened our management framework in different ways. For example, we expanded our donation and sponsorship poli- cy to a community engagement policy in an effort to map out the actions we can take to develop mutually beneficial relationships with communities.
A new risk management tool also helps us to be better prepared to respond quickly and effec- tively. We determine the environmental, eco- nomic, sociopolitical and operational risks that could arise in our projects. We evaluate them while taking into account the potential impacts on neighbouring communities, and develop mitigation measures to maintain good rela- tionships with them as well as with our clients. All of these measures are designed to ensure our sustainability by placing ethics at the heart of our activities.
