Long believed to be a lesser quality product , regenerated base oils are pro -

gressively gaining in legitimacy . This change is explained both by a growing

awareness among producers and the need to take action to meet an increasing

demand on the part of consumers . Oil formulators now communicate more

on the ranges integrating their bases , including for manufacturer - approved

products . In parallel , communication by CYCLEVIA , the support mechanisms

put in place for marketers and the evolution of the legal framework have all

played an important and positive role .

In terms of incentives , the eco - modulation developed and f inanced by the

producer responsibility organisation occupies a prominent place : the bonus

awarded to producers who incorporate regenerated or recycled base oils has

increased from 20 % to 30 % , to encourage their use in lubricants . Whilst this

evolution remains progressive , it marks a major turning point : regenerated

oil is no longer simply perceived as a treated waste , but as a resource capable

of reintegrating high - performance formulations .
