To assess local waste oil treatment
alternatives in the overseas territo -
ries , between April and December
2024 , CYCLEVIA conducted an in - depth
study which was transmitted to the
French Ministry for Ecological Tran -
sition in February 2025 . The objective :
to compare , territory by territory , the
solutions that would minimise exports
to mainland France as much as possible .
The study draws up an inventory of
current practices , identif ies possible
regional outlets and analyses the treat -
ment technologies adapted to volumes
of less than 3 , 000 tonnes per year . For
each territory , the current solution and
relevant options were compared based
on weighted criteria : CO
2
emissions ,
logistical feasibility , costs , technical ma -
turity . . . Praised by the DGPR ( Directorate
General for Risk Prevention ) for its thor -
oughness , this analysis of fers CYCLEVIA
a solid basis to identify the most relevant
solutions from an environmental , tech -
nical and economic viewpoint . It namely
brings to light new avenues to develop
( where relevant ) local alternatives to
exporting waste oil to mainland France .
In the long - term , these works should
enable CYCLEVIA to set adapted targets
for each region and to have a clear
roadmap for the coming years .

In the seven overseas territories , CYCLEVIA is putting
in place solutions adapted to local realities . Behind

performances with those in mainland France .
