Health and safety in numbers
Health and safety
The occupational health and safety (OHS) of our employ-
ees is part of our DNA. That’s why we have our eye on pre-
vention, awareness, training and sharing. Our robust and
mature OHS management system, as well as our full-time
team of 106 specialized health and safety resources on
our work sites ensure the protection of our workers and
accident prevention
Our system is based on the Certif icate of Recognition COR
program that covers all our work site activities outside Que
bec And we plan to obtain COR certif ication in Quebec
in 2023 This is the springboard we need to achieve the
ISO 450012018 standard that were striving to obtain in
2024 for all of our operations coast to coast
This certif ication conf irms the standardization of our OHS
practices and contributes to the continuous improvement
of our operations Every person on our work sitesfrom
the members of our team to our trade partnersmust ad
here to our culture of prevention Were also leveraging
technology automation and digitalization to ensure the
immediate and future wellbeing of our work teams
In 2022 51239 of our employees workers and trade part
ners received risk and prevention awareness training of
fered directly on our work sites We also led 1143 precon
struction meetings with our partners to communicate and
raise awareness of the importance of health and safety
among the teams on our work sites
Our company is growing and were working on evermore
complex projects but were still uncompromising when
it comes to the health and safety of our people our part
ners and the general public In fact were exponential
ly increasing innovative ways to train and support our
people and avoid accidents while exceeding clients ex
pectations

In 2022 the easing of health measures by Canadas au
thorities gave us the opportunity to refocus our efforts
on initiatives that we had previously undertaken and on
a more stringent implementation of our procedures Our
OHS and work site teams had been responsible for our
COVID protocol since 2020 in addition to their regular dut
ies Unfortunately during this period we lost a few of our
hardwon achievements since 2014 such as compliance
with wearing safety glasses
We also saw a slight drop in our health and safety perform
ance This can partly be explained by the labour shortage
that we are currently facing Several tens of thousands
of new workers joined our industry over the last year and
new employees are often less aware and less experienced
which can increase the risk of incidents
Despite these results our lower insurance premium rate
proves that our performance is above the industry average
coast to coast The contribution rate to various provincial
OHS organizations is calculated based on the risk of ac
cidents and their cost for every 100 of insurable payroll
Given that our rate is impacted by our past performance
and by the performance of other industry employers our
2022 rate demonstrates our strong management of OHS
challenges compared with all other industry employers
To better develop OHS leadership and culture among our
trade partners supervisors we created a new mandatory
online selftraining module In 2022 these supervisors par
ticipated in 169 training courses The Inf luence Program
for all our superintendents was also a key factor in devel
oping our OHS leadership and culture As of December 31
2022 we had trained 80 of our superintendents and
we are maintaining this momentum in 2023 By developing
the emotional intelligence of our superintendents were
promoting dialogue and sensitivity on our work sites and
this means more effective control of OHS
With the aim of improving our performance were relying on
our sense of innovation our leadership and our presence
on our worksites so that we can develop awarenessrais
ing tools and train our employees to prevent incidents
