How can a manual that raises awareness about water issues also be used to make drinking water? This is the ingenious idea behind the project developed by a chemist at Virginia University and the American NGO WATERisLIFE: the drinkable book. The pages of the book can be torn off and used as anti-bacteria filters. Tests have shown that the nanoparticles of silver and copper in the paper can remove up to 99% of the bacteria from water that is unfit for consumption. This means that one page of the book can filter up to 100 litres of water.
