Our Performance in 2024
At the same time, our expertise in sustainable construction
has continued to f lourish to meet our clients’ growing needs.
Whether it’s mastering the use of lower-carbon materials like
concrete, steel and wood, accounting for and offsetting GHG
emissions during design and construction or overseeing life
cycle analyses and sustainable certif ication, our know-how is
rapidly evolving.
Including projects carried out through joint ventures and those of
our subsidiaries, we’re currently leading 185 sustainable projects,
which account for 70% of our revenue. These are projects that aim
for sustainable certif ication, that help mitigate climate change,
such as public transit systems and renewable energy production
facilities, or that use low-carbon materials like mass timber. Our
teams are currently working on nine mass-timber constructions,
including Canada’s highest tower at the University of Toronto.
We reached an important milestone this year. For the f irst time,
we reduced the absolute value of our Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG
emissions, despite an increase in our operations. How? Through
innovative actions and the engagement of our teams on site.
Let’s start with temporary heating inside the buildings under
construction, which accounts for 50% of our annual emissions.
Mild temperatures may have played a role, but our Heat Better
Challenge, launched in 2023, definitely made a difference. In
2024, we made the use of smart temporary heating units man-
datory for all our building projects. This equipment optimizes
energy use while maintaining ideal conditions for the work
to be done. Double advantage: better quality and a reduced
carbon footprint.
We’ve also started to electrify our worksite vehicle f leets, which
generate about 15% of our Scope 1 emissions. The initial com-
ments from the people who use these vehicles are encouraging
and helpful, allowing us to f inetune our plan and continuously
improve our electrif ication strategy.
To go even further, we conducted our f irst comprehensive inventory
of Scope 3 emissions. This in-depth analysis of our value chain
emissions gives us a clear and comprehensive picture of our car-
bon footprint and will facilitate our collaboration with our clients,
partners and suppliers to reduce our impact in the future.
