Continuous improvement
of CORTEX
ArcGIS: A critical
decision-making ally
→ Innovation → Culture of innovation
We pursued the deployment of CORTEX to optimize our existing
modules and deploy new ones, with the goal of centralizing a
project’s data on a single platform. This process is part of the
complete life cycle of a project. It enables our teams to assess
projects at different phases, identify risk situations and the mea-
sures to ensure their proper management, and maintain good
relations with our partners throughout the project.
In 2021, we deployed two modules: the Partner Assessment
Module and the 10-50-80 Module, in which every project is sub-
ject to a progress report at 10%, 50% and 80% of completion.
Then, in 2022, we launched three other modules: the 0 Module,
listing the information necessary for project start-up; the Project
Status Module, featuring the monthly reports for our clients; and
the Project Assessment Module, where the lessons learned are
shared. With these new modules, we can now follow a project
throughout its entire life cycle.
In 2023, our Innovation and Quality teams are working closely on
improving the 0 Module and the Partner Assessment Module with
the goal of optimizing user experience.
ArcGIS is a tool that provides very important insights and
enables us to use precise and reliable environmental data to
determine the characteristics and sensitivities of a project’s
geographic context. For example, it can signal the proximity
of a water table, a wetland or an area where a special- status
species is concentrated. It can be used to calculate the
maximum depth of pilings based on the positioning of water
tables, or, using Thiessen polygons and drilling data, establish
the quantity of soil to be excavated, and where to dispose of
or reclaim it, thanks to the location of reception sites. These
examples illustrate how ArcGIS can be a critical ally in ensuring
better project monitoring and, more specif ically, in making
decisions based on reliable environmental data.
