Mikinàk: Affordable housing
and sustainable construction
Creation of a sustainable
construction group
Developing innovations to facilitate
the energy transition of our partners and clients
→ Green value chain → Climate change
To facilitate the operationalization of our ESG strategy on our
sites and to consolidate our expertise in delivering sustai-
nable projects, we brought on a new director and a team of
sustainable construction experts. The team’s mandate is to
respond to the rapid growth in the number of projects seeking
sustainable certif ication, to deploy concrete decarbonization
and circular economy initiatives on our sites, and to deve-
lop an expertise in sustainable construction materials and
methods to support our project teams and our professionals
from coast to coast. Ultimately, this group will enable us to
consolidate our in-house knowledge and offer this expertise
to our clients.
Over the years, we’ve acquired expertise in innovation and tech-
nological development. This is what allowed us to position oursel-
ves as a pioneering company when we launched BIM technology
combined with 4D simulation, in 2012.
Our ability to constantly renew construction processes must now
be devoted to environmental issues. There are many possibilities
and we have already begun work in several major promising areas:
→ Digitization
We’re striving to optimize our work through data intelligence
collected using BIM, VDC, drones and 4D modelling to reduce
the environmental impacts of our projects. We also have the
in-house ability to carry out 6D projects. This approach allows
energy assessments to be carried out during the design and
operation phases of a construction project, as a means of
def in ing a strategy for optimizing energy consumption.
→ Prefabrication
We’re solidifying our prefabrication and modular construction
methods to reduce timelines and costs as well as environmen-
tal impacts and disturbances for neighbouring communities.
By mastering these technologies, we can change and evolve
our industry practices.
→ Green Site Program
We’re preparing our teams to offer our clients, starting in 2023,
the Green Site Program, a support service for implementing
concrete measures to signif icantly reduce a project’s environ-
mental impacts, particularly its carbon footprint.
