Our plan with respect to Indigenous relations revolves
around one key goal: to adopt an engagement policy and a
concrete roadmap to maximize Indigenous participation in
the projects we build. We also strive to be more intentional,
respectful and sensitive in our business relationships with
Indigenous peoples.
Indigenous peoples have faced and continue to
face signif icant socio-economic challenges and
issues that hinder their individual and collective
development. We recognize that all civil society
organizations and businesses have a shared res-
ponsibility to help improve the living conditions of
Indigenous peoples.
That’s why we’ve always wanted to collaborate with
Indigenous communities and to foster harmonious
and mutually benef icial relationships.
For more than a decade, we have carried out some
30 construction projects located in Indigenous
communities or in collaboration with them.
We recognize the importance of respecting the his-
tory and current context of First Nations, the Métis
and the Inuit. We strive to respect the legal rights of
Indigenous communities across the country, and to
preserve their beliefs, cultures, traditions, heritage
and territories in all of the projects we undertake.
We need to strike the right balance between the
importance of taking action now through short-term
measures, and the need to develop lasting and mea-
ningful business partnerships. We are convinced
that the economic growth of Indigenous peoples
has benef icial effects not only for their communi-
ties, but for Canada as a whole.
→ Collective prosperity → Indigenous relations
Make Indigenous peoples our business partners
Our plan
to strengthen
our relations with
Indigenous peoples
We are aligned with SDG 17 through all the partnerships we
are creating to advance our vision of a future of sustainable
construction, in particular alongside Indigenous peoples.
This spirit of collaboration with First Nations, the Métis
and the Inuit brings to mind SDG 10, which seeks to “re-
duce inequalities within and across countries.”
