AutoMooring Solutions ( AMS ) is a

Netherlands - based maritime

technology and engineering

company specializing in the

development of maritime AI driven

robotic solutions for the automation

of mooring , bunkering , and other

deck operations

As part of the InnoWaTr project

supported by the EU s Interreg North

Sea Region program AMS

contributes the Remote Payload

Robot RPR an advanced AI driven

robotic arm that automates the

handling of mooring ropes .

The RPR is designed for deployment

on inland water ways as well as

coastal trading vessels enabling fully

automated deck operations and is

operable via tablet or in comfort

from the bridge Thereby Significantly

improving operational safety

consistency and efficiency in

challenging inland waterway as well

as other dynamic maritime

environments

The RPR will recognize any bollards

mounted on the ship or quayside using

AI when the mooring command is

given ; it will automatically position the

mooring rope over the chosen bollard .

RPR can potentially be included in a

remote sailing set - up of Seafar ( see top ) .

A built - in mooring winch makes it

possible to control the mooring process

on demand and from the comfort and

safety of the Wheelhouse .

The RPR makes mooring safer and

easier , avoids the need to be on deck in

bad weather or climb onto the

quayside . It also keeps people out of

the snap back zone during mooring .

The first field installation took place on

the training vessel “ Maxima ” , operated

by the “ Maritime Academy Harlingen ” .

This ship shall function as both a live

testbed and a training platform for

future inland shipping professionals .

On the Maxima , cadets gain

experience both in the maritime sector

as well as experience with maritime

automation initially based on mooring

however scalable to other deck

operations if required .

AMS is excited to be a part of the

“ InnoWatr ” project in technological as

well as educational capacity .

Potentially setting the new standard for

marine automation .
