Spotlight on :
Groningen Freight Dashboard
InnoWaTr Centre of Expertise
77
Making policy decision towards a resilient and sustainable freight transportation
system requires a clear vision of the future . It also requires a clear vision of the
present . The Province of Groningen requested Dijksterhuis Onderzoek and Advies
to take a next step in identifying , combining and visualizing existing data sources .
As a first step , publication data by Statistics Netherlands was made available . This
allows inspection of origin and destination combinations for road , rail and inland
waterways across four years of data It displays transported weight or volume
and transport performance at the NUTS 3 or NUTS 2 geographical level
By applying filters you may see import export and intraregional trade split by
good category for all modalities and container vs bulk for inland shipping and
rail Finally it provides an indication of CO2 emissions by road
This dashboard is connected to
FFC4 - Dutch Freight Flow
Coalition
Future directions may include :
• CO
2
emission indications of shipping ;
• Broaden towards international
corridors such as the North Sea Baltic
Corridor ;
• Linking with other dashboards as
developed within InnoWaTr .
