Inspired ? A Structured Approach to Implement New FFCs
Want to set up your own freight flow
coalition ? We developed a template to
describe new FFC . The template offers
guidance to describe new FFCs along their
core logistics data and across five building
blocks that take centre stage in each of
InnoWaTr ´ s FFCs and which are defined in the
Centre of Expertise .
First , core logistics data describe high - level
features of an FFC , such as the problem to be
addressed , production or logistics processes it
is embedded in and resulting volume streams
over time and space .
Five building blocks serve as a framework for
describing freight flow coalitions in a process -
and resource - oriented ways .
• Start with “ Stakeholders ” , this building
blocks sets out steps which stakeholders to
attract for an FFC and how to assess their
attitude towards the project .
• “ Action Strategies ” formulate principal
solutions to address the initial freight
transport problem ( the “ FFC purpose ” ) .
They describe in broad terms the
combination of resources and
technologies to tackle it Feedback cycles
and outside perspectives ensure a
learning process amongst FFC
stakeholders to adjust strategies over time
• Building block “ Technologies ” sheds light on technologies selected for the FFC at hand . It details parts of the
respective action strategy and illustrates innovative components of the intended technology use . A particular
area of consideration should be data collection , storage and sharing amongst FFC partners , especially when
sensitive technology or business data is involved .
• “ Communication ” helps to keep the focus of the stakeholders on problem solving and maintains ideally their
attention towards joint collaborative efforts within the FFC . Further , a communication strategy outlines how to
address external parties of the FFC ( there shouldn ´ t be much if the stakeholders of the FFC got carefully
selected ) .
• “ Business Models ” describe commercial aspects of the intended FFC . For this , a business model canvas
outlines key elements in a structured way
