Why Business Models ?

A business model is a representation of your commercial endavour ,
identifying sources of revenue , intended customer base , products , and
details of financing . It models the interplay between future clients , available
resources and external factors in qualitative as well as quantitative terms .
A Business Model Canvas ( BMC ) helps you to structure the key elements of a
business plan in a formal way . This includes key input parameters such as
partners , resources and activities to be performed to create the value
proposition of your enterprise The BMC then describes how the output is
being brought to the customers in what form over what channels Finally it
translates the inputs and outputs into the language of business by modelling
the cost structure and revenue streams
Structuring business resources using a
BMC focuses on individual businesses . A
BMC might also facilitate setting up
freight flows , but a different , i . e . wider
perspective is required encompassing
a multitude of stakeholders along a
particular supply chain .
In InnoWaTr , in a collaborative
approach a freight flow is no longer
considered a combination of individual
business models , but a collective
business - cooperation model in itself .
What that means in terms of
stakeholder management and
coalition building we have discussed
above .
In a nutshell , it means organizing freight
flow stakeholders around their
common interests in terms of
environmental goals and profitability .
Research activities related to business
case strategy development define
implications of various applied
technologies and the solutions
adopted by all FFCs .
However , financial aspects are geared
around individual stakeholders , not
least for legal reasons of being
separate entities . For this , the project
partners gathered investment and
operational costs data ( CAPEX and
OPEX ) and evaluated the economic
feasibility of the individual freight flows .
