Technology :
“ Learning in a practical - operational situation ” is what constitutes the DNA
of the Dutch FFC 4 . By combining a modular electric vessel design that
reimagines push - barge use with digital optimization tools inland
transportation shall evolve into a “ bus - type ” service .
Information :
FFC 4 looked at two promising freight flows of cocoa beans in the
Zaandam area and household waste between Heerenveen and
Harlingen , both using the unique concept of the Electric KOTUG E - Pusher .
Due to a lack of a suitable transshipment location in Vlaardingen , capex
costs being too high , and delay in the permitting process for the quay in
Heerenveen , this freight flow has been parked till further notice .
Nevertheless , the E - Pusher concept can be proven along the River Zaan
shuttling cocoa beans from import storage at Amsterdam to the
processing site at Wormer .
