The Belgium Freight Flow Coalitions ( FFC 5 / 6 / 7 ) are pilot

aimed at improving sustainable urban freight distribution

shifting transport from road to inland waterways . The three

focus on construction materials , waste logistics , and agrologistics ,

demonstrating that inland waterway transport ( IWT ) can

efficient , low - emission alternative for urban freight . By

resources and experiences , the coalitions aim to enhance

capacity and present a unified approach to policymakers

stakeholders , ultimately bridging the cost gap between

road transport and waterborne solutions .

Information :

The objectives are to reduce traffic congestion , air pollution ,

carbon emissions in Ghent by promoting these alternative

solutions . The tests will occur along waterways in and around ,

evaluating costs and emissions to showcase the advantages .
