FFC 4 reinvents the push - barge
concept . Core is a modularly
designed , electrically driven E - Pusher
to provide a flexible and CO2 - reduced
waterborne logistics service for a
global food major in Holland .
The River Zaan has historically been the
food processing cluster due to its
proximity to the Port of Amsterdam ,
navigable waterways and the
availability of cheap wind energy . This
competitive position still holds today
Circle Line Logistics and KoTug deploy
its E Pusher system to ship cocoa
beans from storage in Amsterdam to
processing sites along the River Zaan
Although it is still a point - to - point freight
flow , the push barge system provides
ample flexibility to form a multi - user
network . Both partner are ready to
provide optimisation software to make
full use of this advantage ( see below
Building Block Technologies ) .
The E - Pusher consists of standard
industry components for battery ,
switch board and propulsion arranged
in ISO - container lay - out on a welded
steel frame that swims on
polyurethane bouyancy aids see also
below in the technology section
Barges are demotorised 75m barges of
the Kempenaer class lending a
second live to this vessel size class
