Reflections on InnoWaTr

InnoWaTr set out to develop , implement and validate eight real - life

experiments in inland shipping . Those experiments , Freight Flow Coalitions ,

were driven by a collaborative approach amongst all stakeholders involved .

Using technological innovations added heft to a change of perspective from

the ship - owner - only level to a freight flow level . A number of trainings were

conducted to test our tools , and to incorporate views of future logistics

decision makers .

The InnoWaTr journey turned out to be not always plain sailing . Freight flow

coalitions adapted to changing situations , or revised their focus for various

reasons . We would say that this was to be expected given the novel nature

of our approach . Two and a half years into the project , and we can tell how

collaborations feels like , and what works in our coalitions and what not .
